Lisbon Nocturnes
South Bay Jams delivers a sun-kissed deep house trip on new three-track EP
Universo Positivo unveils the latest chapter in its steadily expanding catalogue with a new EP from South Bay Jams, one of the long-running production guises of Joseph Salvador. A fixture of the Amsterdam scene since the 90s, Salvador has spent decades shaping underground house culture through his studios, labels and tireless creative output. Now based in Lisbon, he channels the city’s warmth and nocturnal pulse into a three-track release that captures the essence of late-summer deep house.
Opening cut Together Alright sets the tone with a rolling, deep groove that feels instantly familiar yet freshly drawn. Its killer bassline and moody pads create a hypnotic foundation, while vocal riffs nod subtly to a major classic — uplifting, inspiring and built for dancers who want to lose themselves in the moment.
The energy rises with Indian Summer, a crunchier, tempo-driven workout that brings the heat straight to the floor. Crisp hats, rousing melodies and a sense of forward motion define the track, evoking those last golden weeks of the season when everything feels charged and alive.
Closing piece Lisbon Nocturne dives deeper, paying homage to the vibrant European city Salvador calls home. A driving beat anchors the track, while trumpet flourishes add colour and atmosphere, capturing the humid, electric mood of the city after dark.
South Bay Jams’ recent output has earned support from deep house tastemakers including DJ Deep, Glenn Underground and Jimpster — and this EP continues that purple patch with rich detail, warm production and a timeless sensibility that transcends scenes and eras. It’s another confident step forward for both Salvador and Universo Positivo, reaffirming their place in the global deep house conversation.
