South Bay Jams is one of the many aliases by long-time house devotee Joseph Salvador, a seasoned producer who has been shaping the scene for more than 20 years with his music and the various labels he has run, including TINK! Records, Tomorrow Is Now Kid! and Universo Positivo Records, his latest project.
Opening the EP is 'Sisters (Summer High Mix)' with its infectious piano energy and atmospheric crowd noises, whistles, and triumphant organ lines. The beats are big but warm, and the groove is perfect for magical open-air sessions with an old-school hip-house vocal adding a perfect finishing touch.
'House Is My Saviour' is a deeper affair with silky late-night chords draped over the dusty drums. Fuzzy pads bring extra soul next to soft focus melodies designed for intimate spaces. The lush 'Leroy Was Here (Harajuku Mix)' is named after a famously buzzy and cultured area of Tokyo. It's a brilliantly seductive and low-slung deep house sound with erotic whispers and sultry female tones.
